The launch of Skilled Neighbors in 2020 was a joint initiative between the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 25 and the MCA of Eastern Iowa/Western Illinois.
The campaign was designed to educate residential, commercial and industrial customers on the benefits of using a skilled, local union workforce to build the local community:
- A union workforce is safer, smarter and better for business
- Local workers keep money local
- Unions advocate for higher wages, which means a stronger local economy
- Skilled workers create positive working relationships with all project stakeholders
Skilled Neighbors has become a go-to resource to find a pipeline of local professionals that includes plumbers, pipefitters and HVACR technicians.
The Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 25 and the MCA of Eastern Iowa/Western Illinois make up the Labor-Management Cooperative Committee. The LMCC represents more than 1,000 skilled plumbers, pipefitters and HVAC technicians whose quality craftsmanship can be seen throughout our communities. The LMCC works to preserve and expand job opportunities in the Quad Cities region and explore innovative approaches for the advancement of the plumbing and mechanical industry.
LU25 Health and Wellness Center
Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 25 opened its new Health and Wellness Center, a partnership with Everside Health.
It’s an easier, more convenient option for everything from preventive screenings to chronic condition management, to mental health and more. The best part: It’s free. No co-pays, no deductibles and no co-insurance to health plan participants.
