Local Union 25 History

Established 1900

Our Charter’s rich history began 1939 but can be traced back to the Local 211 (Moline) Charter that was established by the United Association on July 14, 1900. Two years later, Local 113 (Rock Island) was issued a Charter, and the two locals worked closely together for more than 30 years. It wasn’t until 1939 that Local 113 and Local 211 requested that the UA direct the consolidation of their locals. As a result, on July 1, 1939, the locals merged to become known as Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 25. Membership at that time totaled 120, which included 16 apprentices.

Local Union 25 History

A number of other mergers have taken place throughout our local’s history, allowing us to adapt to the ever-changing needs of our communities and strengthening our union. In cooperation with the Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois Mechanical Contractors Association, Local 25 has met the challenge of providing skilled, professional craftsmen through comprehensive training programs, supported by the UA and the contractors. The dedication of past and present members and contractors have paved the way for us to become the most highly trained, technologically advanced professionals in the industry now and in the years to come.

Today, Local Union 25 is proudly represented by more than 1,650 UA members.
