Instructor Spotlight: Ryan Connell

Earlier this year, Ryan Connell became the newest instructor at the Local 25 JATC. Ryan's been a proud union member since 2013, but his journey in the trade began in 1999, when he followed his two brothers into plumbing. After 14 years of non-union work on residential, commercial and industrial jobs, Ryan joined Local 25 to take his career to the next level. That decision, he says, has given him so many more opportunities.

At the JATC, Ryan teaches a variety of plumbing courses, including soldering and brazing, service, backflow and code classes.

“I’m excited about the future of the trade, and helping to contribute to the membership’s growth,” Ryan said. “It’s impressive how much knowledge is put into our five-year apprenticeship — and with that, how much of a competitive edge our apprentices get.”

When he's not in the classroom, you can find Ryan spending time with his kids, playing music or out fishing.
